Hello members!
The woodshop central dust collector motor has sung its final tune and needs to be replaced. Woodshop volunteers are also taking this opportunity to renovate some parts of the system and make some improvements.
This means that the central dust collector will be out-of-service for a while. Exactly how long is unknown due to some unknowns in supply and design of the new and improved motor setup.
In the meantime, the mobile dust collector (see photo) has been set up for connection to all of our tools using the same connectors as before. Please use it! Especially with the jointer and planer. These machines can be rendered non-operable if chips and dust accumulate inside. We’re working on getting the table saw hooked up as well.
Additionally, during this time, it will be especially helpful if everyone is extra thoughtful about sweeping and using the shop-vac reel hose to clean up around the machines that lack or have poor dust collection.
We’ll update you once we have a better idea of the schedule.
Be safe and have fun,
The woodshop team
