One of the groups at the Florida Institute of Technology used the 3D printers and other tools at the Melbourne Makerspace to work on their engineering prototype for the Florida Tech Engineering and Science Student Design Showcase. They designed and printed the rings to simulate the various inflated tubes of their idea for an inflatable heat shield for a 6U size cubesat. The makerspace even benefited by having the settings for the 3D printers dialed and tuned in by the students for some very nice prints! Take a look for yourself:
